The first question at every booth visit I made was, “What do you think the attendance is?”.
I guessed about 65,000. Other ranges I heard from exhibitors was 40,000 to 80,000. NAB says 83,000 “registered”. Yes, and I can tell you they counted me twice because I (and thousands of others) have more than one registration. A person who’s a speaker, exhibitor and conference attendee might have three registrations. So, you have to take “registrations” with a grain of salt. more
Miranda Technologies (SU2807) is showing a full line of new modular products based on the Densité platform. The platform includes many solutions, including the Densité LGK-3901. This is a modular 3Gb/s/HD/SD branding processor capable of inserting up to five independent layers of graphics. Three of the keying layers can be fed by internally stored still/animated graphics, and two are fed by external graphics devices. It also offers automated character generation, clock insertion, EAS support, and eight channel audio clip/voice-over playout.
Up to 10 of the LGK-3901 modules can be fitted in a single Densite 3 frame (3RU). The LGK-3901 modules can also be combined with a wide array of other interfacing modules. more

Avid Technology (SU902) has unveiled an end-to-end HD news solution that enables broadcasters to produce HD programming more cost-effectively.
The HD news solution consists of the new AirSpeed Multi Stream production server, an updated version of the NewsCutter software (version 7.5), the Avid Interplay production asset management system (version 1.6) and Avid Unity shared storage. more
Miranda Technologies (SU2807) unveiled the new ultra quiet Kaleido-X16 multi-viewer for control rooms. The Kaliedo-X16 uses the same core architecture and software as Miranda’s larger multi-viewers, so the look and feel is the same as any other multi-viewer within the Kaleido-X family. Any of the video inputs can be displayed, any number of times, at any size and at different display resolutions and orientation, without bandwidth limitations.

The 4RU chassis is capable of simultaneously outputting graphics in either SD-SDI or HD-SDI.
A key feature is the capability to brand multiple video streams with different overlay material from a single device and one easy-to-use interface. Because the data required to create and playback graphics can be used between the CG’s two internal systems, users need only maintain one set of graphics data. Dedicated logo insertion, EAS message generation, and automated template-based sports-score generation are also features supported by the CYNERG HD.
Omnibus (SU5417) iTX On-Demand. This is a new version of iTX that simplifies the process of creating VOD channels. ITX On-Demand permits broadcasters to transmit conventional channels and while saving VOD-ready content from the same iTX workflow and hardware. Dolby (N1815) When thinking of audio, the name “Dolby” surly must come to mind. At this year’s show, the company is highlighting both broadcast and recording products. One veritable piece of TV gear every station needs is an audio encoder and Dolby’s DP569 is one to see. It is designed for digital television and disc-authoring applications, including automated broadcast installations as well as mastering DVDs and other recorded media. more
