Quantel supports newer camera formats

At IBC2008, Quantel announced support for several newer camera formats. Support for the Red camera includes;

  • Previewing of r3d files before importing – enabling shot selection and speeding workflow
  • Partial file import – operators can selective clip ingest by simply setting in and out points
  • Import at 4K, 2K or 1K resolution (full, half and quarter res) with different quality options
  • Full use of all RED options including exposure, colorspace and color temperature.

Omneon debuts ProCast CDN File Transport Engine at IBC

Omneon’s ProCast CDNOmneon’s ProCast CDN is a high-performance file transport engine supporting high-speed file transfers over WAN.


ProCast CDN can transfer files at very fast rates, orders of magnitude greater than FTP. And, transfer speed is not affected by distance. more

Quantel demonstrates stereoscopic, 3D server

One of only a few hot topics at this year’s show was stereoscopic or 3D television. Leading in that arena is Quantel. The company was demonstrating the world’s first Stereo3D broadcast server. The development adds a key component to the broadcast Stereo3D production chain as interest in Stereo3D broadcasting rapidly increases.


The Stereo3D server is based on Quantel’s existing sQ server platform and supports realtime ingest and playout of multiple channels of stereo HD content under the control of Quantel’s own sQ Record and sQ Play applications. more

Quantel announces full integration of Apple FCP

At IBC 2008 Quantel announced the full integration of Apple’s Final Cut Pro into the Quantel Enterprise sQ server-based production environment. The solution brings the exact same workflow advantages with Final Cut Pro workstations as they have with Quantel’s native editors.


With this development, FCP editors have full access to both rushes and metadata as well as to edited sequences generated on Quantel desktop and craft editing workstations. more

SeaChange shows Flash Memory Library

SeaChange Flash Media Library 200Being shown for the first time in Europe, the SeaChange Flash Media Library 200 is a flash memory-based ingest and play-to-air solution that sets new benchmarks for reliability and economy. With no spinning disks, the breakthrough server is 100 times more reliable, while consuming 10 times less power than spinning disk-based counterparts.

Sencore announces new digital media streamer

Sencore DMS 3503BSencore introduced the company’s new DMS 3503B digital media streamer at IBC. The streamer will ingest any MPEG-2 or H.264-compatible transport stream and then stream it out to a variety of output formats; ASI GigE, 8-VSB or QPSK.


The server is controlled via a web interface. Users can customize files with playlists. It comes in both rack and bench mounted configurations. The system supports SNMP traps, event logging and error indications.

Omneon releases MediaGrid v. 2.2

MediaGrid rackNew applications have been added to Omneon’s MediaGrid v.2.2. Broadcasters, post-production facilities and corporate A/V departments get enhanced I/O features, and client prioritization all the way from the content server network level back to the content server disk level.


MediaGrid constantly adapts to the changing resiliency and bandwidth requirements of a broadcast workflow and actively performs media processing functions on stored content.
