Miranda offered a new solution that simplifies the integration of multiple video formats around a facility. Instead of using multiple interfacing cards and dedicated devices, this card provides a single module solution for high quality video and audio processing. A one card solution minimizes costs, simplifies video and audio integration, and also substantially reduces cabling requirements.’ more
Thomson Grass Valley has expanded its line of Triton compact routing switchers with the debut of the new Thomson Grass Valley Triton Plus series. Triton Plus has a reduced frame size, but expanded scalability and support for the highest quality AES110 Ohm audio and 3 Gb/s video signals. The new small footprint router is ideal for demanding AV environments where small size, low weight and affordability are critical. more
Thomson Grass Valley released the K2 Dyno replay controller. The compact, cost-effective next-generation controller coupled with the new K2 Summit production client is designed to help sports producers and other professionals capture live events in crystal-clear HD resolutions and instantly play them out at variable speeds for critical analysis during fast-paced events. It is ideally suited for HD sports production trucks and shared storage production facilities. more
Omneon’s ProCast CDN is a high-performance file transport engine supporting high-speed file transfers over WAN.
ProCast CDN can transfer files at very fast rates, orders of magnitude greater than FTP. And, transfer speed is not affected by distance. more
Cobalt Digital announced the release of its new OGCP-9000 remote control panel. Designed to control and configure Cobalt’s 9000 series of cards for the openGear frame, the OGCP-9000 and the OGCP-9000/CC install in standard equipment racks and are 2RU high. Although both panels are designed for use with Cobalt’s extensive 9000 series for openGear, the OGCP-9000/CC provides special emphasis and features for the new 9084 Color Corrector card. The 9084 is an HD/SD-SDI RGB Corrector with YCbCr video proc and frame synchronization. more
Ross Video announced at IBC the launch of the compact CrossOver series production mixer. Four models of the new production switcher will be released. CrossOver production switchers are targeted at mobile and other space-constrained professional production environments. Other important applications for the CrossOver switchers include MCR branding for TV production and live mixing and on-set monitors and IMag screens.
CrossOver comes in four configurations. The CrossOver 6 supports 6
Multi-Definition inputs, 2 keyers and has 6 source selection buttons. The CrossOver 12 supports 12 MD inputs, 3 keyers and has 10 source selection buttons as well as a rugged positioner. CrossOver 6 SD and CrossOver 12 SD offer similar connectivity to their respective peer devices, in cost reduced, SD-only versions. Ross Video will also be offering an unprecedented MD upgrade migration program for the SD models. All models feature intuitive, easy-to-use interfaces; the UltraChrome chroma keyer; dual animation stores; two 2D DVEs; four up/down converters; three SDI outputs, one down-converted analog and 3 aux outputs, all in a 2RU package.
Ross Video is showcasing version 7.0 of their OverDrive automated production control system. The production platform includes applications for news, sports, worship and live events. Version 7.0 increases the power and flexibility of the OverDrive system by adding MOS integration for graphic and video server systems, an enhanced Client/Server architecture, and sideCar. SideCar is a compact remote control panel, which adds multiple user-programmable timers, preview custom controls and the ability to enable or disable remote control of mixers or robotic cameras on-the-fly.
Other new key features include support for the company’s Vision QMD/X switcher family, including integration of internal MLE and global still stores, mis-matched panel and frame configuration support. This feature enables 1 or 2 MLE panels running 3 or 4 MLE frames, and several new enhancements for the RundownControl client and NRCS ActiveX plug-in. The server is controlled via a web interface. Users can customize files with playlists. It comes in both rack and bench mounted configurations. The system supports SNMP traps, event logging and error indications.
Most press conferences are focused on company news, and frankly, they often provide little useful technical information. They are typically filled with “…Bla…bla…bla…we have the world’s first, best, only, cheapest (you fill the blank)….” kind of pontification. But Miranda’s press conferences are often lead by Michel Proulx, CTO. In those press conferences, you actually learn something. I discovered a long time ago that when Michel speaks, you better listen because he’s going to provide you with some useful information. With Proulx, you don’t get spin, you get someone with years of experience sharing his and his company’s expertise on practical and needed solutions for this industry. And, just as important, he often shares his thoughts on were this industry is going. more
I’ve never had a problem using intercoms, so I was a bit surprised that anyone thought that a color display on an intercom was important. Now I’m a believer.
The RTS KP-32CLD color display keypad allows users to be grouped by color and channels. This makes it quite easy to see that green links connect to the machine room guys and blue links go to the edit suites, for example. more
