A technical paper written by engineers from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corp.) on the parameters of the Super Hi-Vision and presented at IBC2011 was recognized as the best technical paper of the conference.
The paper, “Super Hi-Vision System Offering Enhanced Sense of Presence and New Visual Experience,” lays out the video parameters of the system, which delivers 16 times the resolution of HDTV. It discusses the system’s spatial and temporal resolution tone and color reproduction and Super Hi-Vision’s impact on the future of television. more

EVS introduced its Live Ultra Motion Replay Solution that combines the company’s XT3 LSM system and the new I-MOVIX X10 Ultra Motion camera system at IBC2011. The system relies on the integration between EVS’ XT3 production server and the X10 from I-MOVIX, which is a new Ultra Motion system based on the latest generation Vision Research high-speed HD camera. more

Genelec featured the 1238CF, the company’s newest addition to its DSP range of monitors, at IBC2011.
The 1238CF is a three-way monitor designed for a wide range of professional applications requiring excellence in audio monitoring. The 1238CF is also compatible with proprietary Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) control software and can be combined with Genelec 8200/7200 Series products in the same control network. more

LARCAN showcased its new Cool-Dock Series of liquid-cooled transmitters at IBC2011.
The transmitter design incorporates new Cool-Dock technology to deliver superior cooling while maintaining optimal serviceability. The concept behind Cool-Dock is to provide cooling that uses no hose couplings or water connections that need to be disconnected. As a result, there are no connection points to leak or fail mechanically. more
Sonnet Technologies and RED Digital Cinema at IBC2011 demonstrated its Echo Express PCIe 2.0 Thunderbolt Expansion Chassis working with the RED Rocket playback and transcoding card.
The new Echo Express expansion chassis enables the use of high-performance PCIe expansion cards, designed for desktop computers, with computers equipped with Thunderbolt ports, including the latest Apple MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini systems. more
At IBC2011, Colorfront unveiled its latest version of On-Set Dailies (OSD), the company’s digital dailies system with new features adding capabilities for stereographic analysis, workflow and grading. Colorfront featured a new waveform and histogram analysis tools for OSD, which supports for intuitive presentation of stereoscopic parameters. The stereography toolset in OSD also has been extended, offering real-time stereo ProRes, ARRIRAW and R3D EPIC support. more
Cooke Optics unveiled 135mm lenses for its 5/i Prime and Panchro lens sets at IBC2011.
The 135mm for the 5/i set has T1.4 speed and the 5/i’s focus ring that illuminates when required, eliminating the need for external lights that affect the shot. The Panchro 135mm joins the smaller, lighter weight set at T2.8, and adds value to this lower-cost lens range that is finding favor on projects including second unit film shoots, dramas and documentaries. more
