IBC names Sir David Attenborough winner of International Honor for Excellence

Attenborough’s career spans almost 60 years, with his Atlantic Productions documentary, “Flying Monsters 3D with Sir David Attenborough,” one of the most acclaimed programs commissioned by Sky 3D. more

XenData to launch XenData6 server archive management solution

XenData will unveil its XenData6 Server, a new major release of the company’s LTO archive management software, at IBC 2011.


XenData6 Server seamlessly manages LTO tape libraries and RAID on a Windows 2008 Server platform, creating a highly scalable archive storage solution for professional video applications. more

Sound Devices to roll out new MixPre-D compact audio mixer

Well suited for documentary-style, sports, news magazine and corporate-industrial productions, MixPre-D is designed for any production application where capturing great sound is important, but size and weight are a concern. more

Grass Valley to focus on workflow enhancements

At IBC2011, Grass Valley will unveil a variety of new technologies in multiple areas, including signal transport, media workflow and automation.


New developments include:


• 3G transmission camera system, which eliminates the triax/fiber cable challenge of outside broadcasts. Grass Valley 3G Triax and 3G Fiber now are combined without converters in the new 3G transmission camera system introduced at NAB.

• Media workflow application framework. Grass Valley will demonstrate how users can combine production tools, device control and asset management into workflows and user interfaces that match their needs based on a powerful Service Oriented Architecture.

• Flexible production automation, which includes equipment from third-party vendors as well as Grass Valley’s Ignite production automation environment.

Sisvel Technology’s Giovanni Ballocca to discuss 3-D Tile Format at IBC2011

110809-sisvel-ballocca-200.jpgGiovanni Ballocca, digital television project manager at Sisvel Technology, will deliver a technical presentation of the company’s 3-D Tile Format at IBC2011’s Connected World on Sept. 11.


Ballocca will describe the 3-D Tile Format and discuss its use by Italian broadcasters Quartarete and Città Digitali and by Astra through a satellite positioned at 19.2 degrees East. more

Autoscript inks deal with Turkmenistan public TV broadcaster

autoscript-15-tft-200.jpgAutoscript has won a contract to supply a large portfolio of prompting equipment for a new media center being launched by Turkmenistan’s public television broadcaster. The Turkish systems integrator Bilgipark was instrumental in the sale.


The new media center will run six television channels, producing a variety of live productions, including news, sports programs and live studio shows. more

Prestigious TV awards competition relies on Digital Rapids MediaMesh to simplify digital submissions

The use of MediaMesh enables entries to be submitted electronically for the first time using a secure Web-based portal, while the MediaMesh RX receiving appliance provides an easy, immediate interface for judges to review submissions. more

Camera Corps relocates to new, larger headquarters

Camera Corps has expanded into a new 12,000sq ft headquarters at Byfleet, Surrey, England.


The new premises provides Camera Corps with room to assemble large systems used to handle major sports events, such as the Olympics and the World Cup, said company founder and managing director Laurie Frost. more

Calrec Audio partners with Bexel on worldwide equipment rental

Calrec’s relationship with Bexel began in 2003, when Bexel’s Audio Specialties Group (ASG) became exclusive distributor of Calrec products in the western United States — an arrangement that expanded to include the southeastern and south-central United States in 2007. more

Gefen to unveil 32 x 32 DVI matrix switcher

Gefen will unveil several new products at IBC2011 including the 32 x 32 DVI matrix switcher, a mini signal generator for HDMI 3DTV and 4 x 1 DisplayPort KVM switcher.


The 32 x 32 DVI matrix allows any type of switching between 32 computers and 32 displays. Any one-to-one or one-to-many distribution can be controlled by front-panel selector, RS-232, IR remote or any Web browser. more
