Harris announces the Maxiva ULX transmitter and Apex M2X exciter

Harris Maxiva ULXWith today’s increasingly important issue of power consumption, Harris announced the Maxiva ULX UHF liquid-cooled, solid-state transmitter. The transmitter provides a multimedia broadcaster with one compact transmitter platform capable of multiple modulation schemes. Featuring what Harris calls PowerSmart technology, Maxiva ULX liquid-cooled transmitters are ideal for all high-power UHF applications. The series relies on new 50-volt LDMOS devices, providing a dramatic increase in power density, making it possible for provide up to 8.7kW DVB-T average power or 26.2kW analog power in a single-cabinet.

The field-upgradeable design of the Maxiva ULX also makes it an ideal solution for any analog broadcaster planning a future transition to DVB-T, DVB-H, DVB-T2, ATSC, or other digital standards.

Also new is the frequency-agile Harris Apex M2X exciter, which supports ATSC, ATSC mobile, DVBT/H, ISDB-Tb, FLO, DMB-T/H, DAB, CMMB and a wide range of analog TV standards. And, it is DVB-T2 ready.

For digital operations, the Harris Real-Time Adaptive Correction (RTAC) is already incorporated in the Apex M2X exciter. It continuously monitors transmitter output and filters while automatically adapting for system nonlinearities. The result is that stations can be confident they remain in compliance with bandwidth requirements.
