China’s state broadcaster CCTV (China Central Television) recently launched its new U.S. hub in Washington, D.C. with the Vista Spyder X20-0808 video processor managing graphics and video content and feeding it to three sets.
The U.S. operation delivers English-language programming to China and the Washington hub is the latest in CCTV’s worldwide expansion - which includes a studio in Nairobi, Kenya, a European bureau, and a newsgathering bureau and studio in Dubai. CCTV operates 16 national channels in China and claims a global TV audience of one billion.

When the new Nature Research Center (NRC) wing of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences held its grand opening recently the SECU Daily Planet dazzled visitors with its immersive, three-story multimedia space. Smart Monkeys, Inc. was hired by Batwin + Robin Productions of New York City to provide system design, consulting and programming for extensive amounts of content it created for the Daily Planet and throughout the NRC wing.
The Raleigh-based North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is the largest museum of its kind in the southeast. The decision by France’s CSA (Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel) to link the EBU’s Loudness Recommendation R128 to its own audio-visual legislation is now focusing the attention of French broadcasters on purchasing loudness processing equipment that complies with the EBU R128 standard.
One manufacturer that has already benefited is German dynamics specialist Jünger Audio, which recently won a significant order for its loudness processing equipment from the French public broadcaster France Television.
