Leading Indian communications provider launches new media capabilities using Net Insight’s Nimbra technology

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Net Insight, a leading developer of efficient and scalable optical transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, today announced that Tata Communications, India’s leading global provider of communications services, has selected Net Insight’s Nimbra platform to deliver the solution for an international video contribution network connecting India with major cities in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.


Tata Communications, who own and operate a comprehensive terrestrial, subsea and satellite network, is deploying a new media transport solution using Net Insight’s Nimbra platform. The Tata Global Network includes one of the world’s largest submarine cable networks and a Tier-1 IP network with connectivity to more than 200 countries across 400 points of presence.

Net Insight to supply backbone network for cable TV distribution in an African country

29 December 2009 Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight, a leading provider of efficient optical transport solutions for media, broadcast and IP networks has received an order to deliver the Nimbra platform for a cable TV distribution network in Africa.


A national telecom operator in an African country is deploying a cable TV distribution network. The network shall initially multicast IP TV services between 15 regional sites and carry regionally inserted native video content with 100% Quality of Service.

Audio Cats

Many people don’t know that you can send audio, real professional balanced-line audio, down category cables. In fact, not only is this possible, but those pairs make the greatest audio cable ever!


How can this be true? It’s really quite simple. In standard shielded twisted pairs, most of the noise rejection comes from the fact that the pair is twisted. Rejection of noise by the twisted pair is called CMRR, Common Mode Rejection Ratio. And, since the pairs in category cable are extremely precise, they have the best CMRR ever.


So why is there a shield on audio cable? Well, a foil shield is for RF protection. Foil shields don’t begin to be effective until 10 MHz or so. Braid shields go down to 1,000 Hz. Below 1,000 Hz, there is NO shield that has any more
