IBC 2008 reveals the broadcast world’s take on new delivery platforms
(LONDON)–AmberFin today announces the results of a research survey conducted at this year’s IBC conference in Amsterdam. AmberFin spoke to industry experts attending to gauge their opinion on what issues would most influence the industry in the coming year.
The results clearly demonstrate the use of multiple platforms such as broadband, IPTV and mobile handsets as key drivers for the industry moving forward. However, although most (60%) felt that the industry has improved its knowledge and use of multiple delivery platforms in the last year, it was agreed by 70% of respondents that content owners could still be distributing their content more effectively across multiple platforms. more

NEW YORK — Oct. 14, 2008 — Genesis Networks today announced that ION Media Networks Inc., owner and operator of the nation’s largest broadcast television station group, has chosen the Genesis Networks fiber infrastructure to provide reliable and permanent connectivity between WPXN, ION Media’s television station serving the New York market, and the ION network operations center (NOC) in Clearwater, Fla. Fairlight’s Crystal Core technology has received a massive endorsement from two US sports broadcasters, both of whom have moved over to the new CC-1 platform to improve their speed of workflow and networking capabilities.
Major League Baseball Productions are installing two CC-1 powered Fairlight Constellation large-format mixing consoles, both with the new Xynergi Centre Section (XCS) and PyxisTrack HD video. The production company has also invested in a Pyxis HD server to network video to the two consoles.
The second sale, to World Wrestling Entertainment®, involves five Fairlight Xynergi Media Production Systems, all with PyxisTrack HD video. A Fairlight user since 1997, WWE TV made the transition from the QDC platform to CC-1 as part of a general overhaul inspired by its switch to High Definition. more
