Radio France Buys SADiE Technology for Mobile Production

Radio France, France’s public service radio broadcaster, has purchased three SADiE LRX2 portable multi-track location recording systems and two PCM2 laptop-based editing systems. The units will be used for mobile production across France to provide content for the broadcaster’s seven national stations.

“There are things that make SADiE really easy to use, even by people with a poor knowledge of computers, especially the project, the clipstore and the slip modes in the playlist editing. For high-end users, the trim window is wonderful,” comments Philippe Destrebecq, DPA/DLP/Responsable du support production at Radio France.

The SADiE LRX2 Location Audio Workstation has been designed to fulfil the needs of an ever more complex recording environment and to serve a wide variety of remote recording applications. It combines SADiE’s proven high-quality professional audio input and output ’slither card’ I/O modules with a tactile hardware control surface and the ability to use a more

Jünger Audio’s LEVEL MAGIC™ Technology Helps Discovery Communications Achieve Loudness Consistency

Discovery Communications has chosen Jünger Audio’s LEVEL MAGIC™ technology to deliver loudness consistency and peak level management across all programs broadcast from its Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic headquarters in Florida.

The broadcaster has installed 15 rack-mounted 8-channel C8086 LEVEL MAGIC modules and 30 C8402 SDI input modules as part of a general technical upgrade of its Miami facility.

Jünger Audio’s LEVEL MAGIC is a sophisticated adaptive level control algorithm that is designed to adjust the level from any source at any time, with no pumping, breathing or distortion. It is based on a simultaneous combination of an AGC, a Transient Processor for fast changes and a “look ahead” Peak Limiter for continuous unattended control of any programme material, regardless of its original source.

ZDF invests in multiple SADiE workstations

German public broadcaster ZDF has bought seven SADiE PCM-H8 studio workstations for its in-house trailer production department. The new units, which ZDF purchased to replace existing PCM8 systems and take advantage of the additional DSP power in the SADiE 5.5 software environment, were sold by German distributor, For-Tune.

ZDF has been using SADiE systems for 14 years. “The systems are sited at ZDF’s main headquarters in Mainz in two different buildings,” explains For-Tune’s Stefan Mayer. “ZDF was the first German broadcaster to use the SADiENet network via Fibre Optic ATM and, as a result, audio files can be easily transferred between the two buildings. The audio networking is now a lot easier with the H8 systems and their open architecture.”

Mayer adds that ZDF returned to SADiE because the system gives it the speed (fast bouncing, fast and easy networking) and all the functions it requires. “This includes more

Independent Studios Standardizes On Fairlight’s CC-1 Engine

One year after installing its first Fairlight Crystal Core (CC-1) system, Milwaukee-based Independent Studios has upgraded its second audio post production suite to encompass CC-1 technology, thus ensuring that projects can move seamlessly from one suite to another.

Since its formation in 1991, Independent Studios has grown from a small, one studio facility specializing in commercial music and sound design to a company handling commercials, documentaries and feature film projects for a wide variety of clients. Its facilities have also grown to include two audio suites – both equipped with Fairlight Constellation consoles - and a music studio. Video editing suites, graphics suites and a new color correction suite are also on site, and these are owned and operated by a separate company, Independent Edit.

Founding director Randy Bobo says: “We have been using Fairlight equipment since 2000, when we installed our first Prodigy 2 and QDC systems. more
