Grass Valley ATSC Mobile Video System Now Ready For Deployment

Grass Valley NetProcessor 9030 PlatformOctober 28, 2009 – Grass Valley™ has completed testing of its end-to-end, fully integrated Thomson ATSC Mobile DTV transmission system and it is now ready for deployment by broadcasters developing commercial mobile TV services for their markets.


Thomson’s ATSC Mobile DTV Terrestrial Broadcast Technology from Grass Valley is based on the ATSC Mobile DTV Standard A/153 (approved October 15, 2009) and is backward compatible with legacy ATSC transmission systems, enabling stations to use their existing DTV channel and the mandated ATSC 8-VSB modulation scheme. Sweetwater Continues Commitment to Grass Valley HD Technology with Purchase of Kayenne Video Production Center

Sweetwater Digital Video Productions, located in Van Nuys, Calif., continues to advance its fleet of state-of-the-art production trucks with the latest high-definition technology and systems from Grass Valley™. The company has purchased a new Grass Valley Kayenne Video Production Center for its premiere HD mobile production truck, “Cobalt.” The fully loaded, 4.5 M/E Kayenne, which replaces a Grass Valley Kalypso™ HD switcher, represents the first Kayenne currently available in the Hollywood/Los Angeles area.

Sportcast Extends Bundesliga Football Coverage with Two New Trucks from Grass Valley

Sportcast GmbH has ordered two new OB vans from Grass Valley™. The wholly owned subsidiary of DFL, Deutsche Fussball Liga GmbH, produces the basic programming of all matches of Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga in Germany as well as the DFB-Cup games of DFB (Deutscher Fußball Bund). The new compact OB vans will allow Sportcast to further extend their productions.


The two OB vans are identical. Built on 12m Mercedes Benz truck bases, the completed units will provide an excellent working environment for production crews. Each will be equipped with six Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite HD cameras plus an LDK 8300 HD Live Super SloMo camera. Thomson Solutions Shortlisted for Multiple Awards at IBC2007

Thomson products and technologies have been shortlisted for a number of awards to be presented at IBC2007, including IABM Design Awards, Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards, and the IBC Innovation Awards.


Placed on the shortlist for the IABM Design Awards is the Grass Valley LCP 400 wireless local control panel software from Thomson. The LCP 400 software is a radical new approach to camcorder control. A software application running on a Windows Mobile device, it links to the Infinity Digital Media Camcorder via Bluetooth and, as well as offering realtime control of the camera functionality, it gives access to the metadata to allow information about the shoot to be read, written, and edited.
