SMPTE 2008 Honors NVISION’s Birney Dayton with Prestigious SMPTE Progress Medal

bernie-2.jpgHollywood, CA, SMPTE 2008 – October 31, 2008 –– The Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) honored SMPTE Fellow Birney Dayton, NVISION’S founder, chairman of the board, and chief technology officer, with its prestigious SMPTE Progress Medal at a gala celebration last night in Hollywood, CA. Dayton joins the ranks of previous SMPTE Progress Medal recipients Walt Disney (1940, motion picture photography and sound recording of feature and short cartoon films) ), Vladimir K. Zworykin (1950, developer of television), and Ray M. Dolby (1983, theater sound and continuing work in noise reduction and quality improvements in audio and video systems).
