DVEO to Feature New Multiformat, Multichannel MPEG-2 to H.264 Transcoder/Scaler/Streamer at NAB Show, Booth SU6911

Multichannel, Multiformat MPEG-2 to H.264 Transcoder and Streamer –- MPEG Gearbox™ RF/IPSan Diego, California — DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), will demonstrate their real time multichannel integrated RF receiver and transcoder at the NAB Show, April 11-14 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in booth SU6911.

Now shipping, the versatile MPEG Gearbox™ RF/IP is the latest addition to DVEO’s product line of broadcast quality, standard or high definition (up to 1080i) streamers, MPEG-2 to H.264 transcoders, or MPEG-2/4 to MPEG-2/4 scalers. The system receives satellite and terrestrial RF signals, transcodes them to MPEG-2 or H.264, and streams them to any number of IP devices. Resulting streams can be viewed with standard IP capable set-top boxes, streaming video, TV’s, smart phones, or software clients such as VLC or MPlayer.

grandMA2 Makes Its Miss America Pageant Debut

Miss AmericaIt was the 90th anniversary of the Miss America Pageant and grandMA2 played a key role backstage. A pair of grandMA2 light’s made their debut at the 2011 pageant, which was telecast live on ABC from the Planet Hollywood casino-resort in Las Vegas. A.C.T Lighting is the exclusive distributor of the grandMA2 in North America.


The pageant reunited lighting designer Allen Branton, who returned for the fourth time, and fellow lighting directors Kevin Lawson & Felix Peralta, who marked their third year & fourth year on the show respectively. This also marked the first time that Lawson & Peralta had used the grandMA 2 on a live televised broadcast.

Mwnci Adds Oxygen DCT’s Penta Series Grading Monitors To Its High Quality Equipment List

Cardiff-based independent TV Post Production company Mwnci (Welsh for ‘monkey’) has recently invested in two high-quality Penta Series LCD grading monitors, which were supplied and installed by Oxygen DCT.


Established in 1999, Mwnci specialises in editing film and video for broadcast and is synonymous with quality and cutting edge expertise. Operating from three locations in Cardiff – each of which has 20 edit suites – Mwnci also has studios, an OB truck and satellite links, not to mention an enviable client list that includes Indus films, Disney, Adastra, BBC HD, Prospect pictures to name but a few.

QVC Italy Goes Live With Shotoku Broadcast Systems Robotic Control Camera System

Staines, UK (10 February 2011) – QVC Italy, the latest launch of QVC, Inc. – one of the world’s largest multimedia retailers - has gone on air from new studios in Milan with a sophisticated 11-channel robotic control camera configuration from Shotoku Broadcast Systems. James Eddershaw, Shotoku’s sales director, announced the Company’s significant participation in the project from European headquarters in Staines, UK.


“Following the very successful use of Shotoku systems at QVC’s recently upgraded UK studios, we were happy to select Shotoku for our launch in Italy,” said Mattias Brahammar, QVC Italy’s Vice President of Television Operations.
