SOUND DEVICES’ 302 MIXERS TAKE THE MYTH OUT OF AUDIO ENGINEERING ON LEADING TELEVISION SERIES

Matt Jepson and Sound DevicesREEDSBURG, WISCONSIN — Matt Jepson, production sound mixer for the Discovery Channel series, MythBusters, relies on Sound Devices’ 302 mixers to get the audio right, the first time. Jepson is tasked with helping to profile special-effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman as they try to prove or “bust” popular urban legends using unique, and often complicated, science experiments.


“Doing sound for a show like MythBusters is always an adventure,” says Jepson. “We frequently don’t have any idea what is going to happen in an experiment, because no one has ever done it before; we have to be ready for anything — no grips, no utilities, no A2s, and no second takes.
