Get Married Says “I Do” to Real-Time Shared Storage Technology from Small Tree

Brides panicking over floral arrangements, guest seating and wedding vows have nothing on television show producers working on tight deadlines. For the producers of Get Married, the popular multi-channeled wedding planning resource program that airs on Lifetime Television and across the Internet on www.getmarried.com, a news-like production schedule was choking the Atlanta-based production facility’s limits. Needing a solution that would provide real-time editing, Get Married recently installed cost-effective shared storage technology from Small Tree, designer of simple-to-install, inexpensive Mac-based networking and shared storage products for professional video and audio editors.

Featuring seven suites running Final Cut Pro across Mac G5’s, Get Married produces 65 episodes each year. Requiring a two month turnaround time to produce 10 to 12 episodes, the company was looking for a workflow solution that would enable each member of the production team to work concurrently on projects without having to worry about dropped frames or crippling the system. To improve workflow and productivity, Get Married installed Small Tree’s Edge-corE ES4524D, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, along with its PEG6 6-port Ethernet card – both of which are a part of Small Tree’s new GraniteSTOR product line.

“We’re currently working on our 12th episode since installing the [Small Tree] technology and we’ve had zero problems,” said David Francombe, executive producer for Get Married. “Our machines are running hard constantly and the Small Tree equipment easily handles the demands.”

“For each of our editors to be able to access info whenever they want, wherever they want with no worries, provides great peace of mind for us and our clients,” Francombe continued. “With the system’s affordability and scalability, Small Tree provides a solution that not only improves productivity, but also maximizes cost-efficiency.”
