AJA Video Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, recently released version 6.0.2 software for the AJA Io HD, KONA 3 and KONA LHe products. With version 6.0.2, AJA has added support for the extraction of 23.98 fps video from a 1080i 29.97 fps HD-SDI signal. It is important to note that not all models of camcorders with 1080i 29.97 HD-SDI output provide the flagged frame data needed for the proper operation of this feature.
The newly introduced Canon XH G1S camcorder, with 1080i29.97 HD-SDI output, provides the necessary flagged frame data. When working with the camera in the 24F frame rate mode, the camera can be configured to output flagged frame data so that the Io HD or KONA 3/LHe can locate the frames needed for removal, resulting in native 24F video files.
