da Vinci Demonstrating Dramatic Improvement to Post-Production Workflow at the NAB Sh

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — April 14, 2008 – da Vinci Systems today announced at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show a dramatic contribution to post-production efficiency: database sharing between the company‘s signature Revival™ image restoration system and Resolve® digital mastering suite. This breakthrough “connectivity” between the two best-of-breed systems exemplifies da Vinci‘s continuing initiative to break down the barriers that impede post-production workflow, thus maximizing technical and staff resources to enhance overall quality and productivity.

Typically, colorists encountering specks or other damages within frames during the restoration process make a handwritten list noting the location of each. This list is then passed to a technician who may have to search through hundreds of thousands of frames to find the exact ones for repair, an unwieldy and time-wasting process that is prone to error.

An industry first, the new Revival and Resolve integration streamlines and automates this process, enabling the colorist working on Resolve to mark frames for repair quickly and easily and save them to the shared database from which they are retrieved and fixed by the Revival technician. Automatic updating of the database gives the colorist instant access to the fixed image so he or she can keep working.

The da Vinci Revival 5.2 image restoration system is the company‘s all-in-one toolkit for film repair and restoration that works in both automatic and interactive modes to fix scratches, instability, damage, fading and staining, and dropped pixels. The da Vinci Resolve digital mastering suite integrates the company‘s award-winning image enhancing tools into a DI workflow.

Visit da Vinci at the 2008 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 14-17, in booth SL2620.
