Electrorack Adds New Line of RoHS Compliant Basic and Metered PDUs

Anaheim, CA - February 15, 2008 — In its ongoing effort to provide its clients with tailored, superior enclosure product solutions, Electrorack has introduced a new line of RoHS compliant basic and metered Power Distribution Units (PDU‘s). Certified to the latest IT safety standard (UL-60950-1), the initial offering consists of 39 new models available in 120V, 208V and 208V three-phase configurations, in 15, 20, 30, 50 and 60 amps.

“By bringing the design and manufacturing of Basic & Metered PDU‘s in-house, we are able to control the quality of the units, provide a complete product line to our clients, ensure timely delivery, and equip our clients with a lower total cost of ownership,” said Richard Hart, Electrorack‘s Product Manager for Integrated Technologies. “Combined with our flexible mounting solutions and ability to pre-configure each rack with power distribution, Electrorack has again set a new standard in bringing complete enclosure solutions directly from our manufacturing facility to the client‘s doorstep.”

With rising energy costs, the demand to improve overall power consumption and power efficiency in the data center is intensifying. Monitoring load balances and thermal issues are a must when creating energy efficient data centers. Designed with “True RMS” meters, the most accurate method of reading current load, all Metered PDU‘s provide a quick visual reading of the load at the PDU for easy balancing when connecting equipment. Additionally, all 3-Phase Metered PDU‘s include an individual current meter for each phase, eliminating the need to toggle between phases like many competitive models.

Our comprehensive mounting solutions include Power Mounting Bars for tool-less vertical PDU mounting. Available in 2.4”, 4.6” and 6.8” wide versions, these mounting bars maximize critical real estate inside the enclosures by incorporating cable lacing functionality and provisions for cable management rings. Side-mount brackets are utilized to mount the PDU‘s with the receptacles facing forward or towards the rear of the rack. This allows for shorter power cords, which minimizes blockage from excess cabling, improving airflow within the equipment enclosure.

“The engineers at Electrorack worked directly with our clients in designing the PDU‘s,” Richard commented. “Everything from mounting options, which maximize the space-to-equipment ratio, thermal issues, redundancy, equipment access and protection, went into the design of these units. These units really give our clients complete control over power distribution considerations when managing their equipment layout requirements.”
