SOUND DEVICES INTRODUCES WAVE AGENT UTILITY SOFTWARE AT AES 2007

NEW YORK - Sound Devices, a manufacturer of industry-leading portable digital audio recorders, introduced the Wave Agent utility software at AES 2007. Wave Agent supplies the critical link between Sound Devices 7-Series recorders — 702, 702T, 722 and 744T models — using the newly introduced FLAC data compression option and Windows-based computers.

“With the inclusion of FLAC data compression on our 7-Series recorders, we needed an easy way to convert recorded files to WAV for storage,” says Jon Tatooles, managing director of Sound Devices. “Wave Agent accomplishes this mission and is available as a free download for registered users.”

Wave Agent is a Windows-only application that converts data compressed FLAC audio files recorded on 7-Series recorders into standard Broadcast Wave files that can be used on any computer with any digital audio workstation software that supports the WAV file format. All Broadcast Wave (BEXT) and iXML metadata is maintained. Additionally, Wave Agent converts any WAV file between monophonic and polyphonic formats.
